Big show up in the air
DOVER, Del. - U.S. Air
Force Thunderbirds Will
streak overhead in dazzling
acrobatic displays as the
highlight of Dover Air Force
Base’s Community Ap
predation Day Open House
September 10 from 10 a.m. to
4 p.m.
The public is invited to the
annual affair which this year
pays tribute to Delaware’s
former U.S. Senator John J.
Williams.
Besides the Thunderbirds,
other Air Force aircraft will
be on display as well, in
dueling the C-S Galaxy, the
world’s largest airplane.
This and several other
aircraft will be open for the
public to walk through all
during the open house.
Also appearing will be the
Air Force Academy’s
parachute team to perform a
skydiving and parachute
demonstration. The team is

FLEMENGTON, N.J. -
Farmer’s Day at the
Flemington Fair will be
August 30, this year with the
rain date September 1.
- Farmer’s Day at the Fair
is a tradition. It is a day full
of special attractions for
farm folks and those in
terested in the agriculture of
the area. The Farm Tractor
Pulling Contest begins at 10
a.m. and will continue until
completion. This year again
there will be a class for
.antique tractors (37 years or
older). The weight transfer
system will be used for the
tractor pulling. This will
make the pulling contest the
same as the national contest
held in other areas. The
contest in the morning and
the Modified Tractor Pull in
the evening.
The State 4-H Dairy Show
with all breeds being judged
on this day provides special
interest to dairymen m the
area. The colored breeds will

Day will take place on a
Sunday, the public is also
invited to attend worship
services in the two base
chapels.
A Roman Catholic Mass
will be held in Chapel 1 at 11
a.m. and in Chapel 2 at 12:15
p.m. Protestant services will
be held in Chapel-2 at 11 a.m.
and in Chapel 1 at 12:15 p.m.
Chapel 1 is on the base
property, while Chapel 2 is
located in-the base housing
, area.
A Military Airlift Com
mand display will also be
available for visitors so they
can have a better idea of how
Dover Air Force Base fits
into the overall command
and Air Force missions.

The fruit and vegetable
exhibits will have been
judged and the displays are
at their best during the early
days of the Fair. The area
nurserymen will have a
display in the same tent with
the Flower Show.
The special feature of the
grandstand show on Far

classes). This should make
an interesting evening along
with the regular grandstand
show.
The State Dairy Princess
Contest will be held on
Tuesday, August 29 which
means the new State Dairy
Princess will reign all day on
Farmer’s Day.
