Carl Linneaus once said a
garden should be “a living
library of plants for the
public to leam their names,
to follow their development,
to observe their
metamorpheses, and to
become acquainted with
their smell and taste.”
That’s exactly the idea
behind the new herb garden
outside Agricultural Hall at
the University of Delaware.
Greenhouse supervisor Paul
H. Dennison, designer of the
garden, says the herbs are in
delicate bloom right now. He
invited the public to come
and find out how colorful,
fragrant, and even tasty, an
herb garden can be.
Culinary herbs are sur
prisingly varied in ap
pearance as well as in use.

plants that were so im
portant to our ancestors.
Agricultural Hall is

Land Bank Association and
the Southeast Production
Credit Association; these
two Farm Credit
Associations serve farmers
in the five counties of
Chester, Delaware, Bucks,
Montgomery and
Philadelphia.
Risser is a native of Leola,
Lancaster County where he
graduated from Manheim
Township High School in
1968. While a resident of
Lancaster County, he was
very active in 4-H Clubs. He
was also elected vice
president of the council at
Pennsylvania Association of
Farmer Cooperatives in 1968
and then was selected to
proceed on to the American
Association of Cooperatives.
He joined the Southeast
Associations in September,
1972 as a field representative
and was promoted to
assistant manager the
following year.
