lower; instances 5.00 off on
good and choice heifers. Few
steers and heifers Thursday
5.00-6.00 lower. Cows closed
.50-1.00 lower and bulls 1.00
off.
Four day receipts 14,000 as
compared 15,300 previous
week and 17,600 a year ago.
Fed cattle prices again
declined sharply despite
moderate marketings
locally. Slaughter continued
at the curtailed rate of
recent weeks. The overall
finish of the steer supply was
fairly attractive with a
rather liberal percentage of
choice and several loads
choice and prime. Much of
the heifer supply was good to
average-choice. Steers made
up approximately 51 percent
and heifers 31 percent of
receipts. Cows a short 10
percent and, feeders 6 per-
cent.
STEERS: At midweek,
load Choice 3 and two loads
Choice and Prime 34 1280-
1460 lbs. 55.00, scattered
loads 1125-1300 lbs. 54.50, the
week’s high Monday and
Tuesday 56.00, but load 1250
lbs. Thursday 53.00. Choice
