Receipts were quite poorly distributed over the trading period with nearly 60 per cent of the four-day total arriving on Monday. Most buying interests came into the period in need of cattle for near-term requirements and there was a good demand for cattle to be slaughtered outside the immediate Omaha area, but trading was still charac terized by a general air of bearishness and caution. There was a fairly liberal volume of choice steers and a modest volume choice and prime; much of the heifer supply was good to average choice.
