INTERCOURSE - Better
service to the farmer-user of
Mueller dairy equipment
was the ultimate purpose of
a service training school
held here this week for the
benefit of refrigeration
specialists who deal with
Mueller products.
The Paul Mueller Com
pany, headquartered in
Springfield, Mo., was
founded in 1948 and is
presently the world’s largest
manufacturer of bulk milk
coolers. It boasts sales of its
tanks in 60 countries around
the world, has 60,000 of its
units in service and most
recently won acclaim for its
Fre Heater - a unit which
uses the warmth taken from
milk during the cooling
process to heat water. A
number of dairymen have
reportedly cut water heating
costs by $5 and more per
day, the servicemen were
told.
The school’s primary aim,
which was held at Queen
Road Refrigeration, near
here, was to instruct and
update area refrigeration
specialists on the latest
developments in service. A
few of the specialized areas
which were covered during
the 9-hour long seminar were
the servicing of
refrigeration, automatic
washing and Fre Heater
units; proper upkeep of
equipment and control units,
problem analyzation, spray
patterns during washing'
and sanitizing, and routine
maintenance procedures.
Dealers and servicemen who
participated in the school
came from throughout
southeastern Pennsylvania
and New Jersey.
According to Stewart
Bryent, sales representative
for the Mueller Company,
these educational sessions
have been going on for about
four years and have caused a
“dramatic reduction” in the
number of problems
reported to the company’s
The satisfaction that comes

It’s a great feeling to know that you are the master of
your farmlands . that when you treat your soil right,
it will treat you right Liming is one of the most impor

headquarters. The full-time
instructor for these schools
is service representative
Gordon Stout. He and the
mobile educational unit
travel all over the country to
keep Mueller’s represen
tatives up to date on all of the
latest equipment and ser
vicing procedures. Stout and
his trailer visit the area each
year.
Employing 1000 people at
its Missouri plant, Mueller
manufactures bulk tanks
ranging from a 300 gallon to
6000 gallon capacities.
Smaller or larger units are
made upon special request.
“Service is all important
and therefore we go all out to
keep these men informed,”
Bryent says.
Henry Esh, owner of
Queen Road Refrigeration,
notes that his company of
fers 24-hour service 365 days
out of the year. Covering
Lancaster County and all of
its adjacent counties, as well
as northern Maryland, the
Lancaster County firm
carries a complete line of
Mueller products. The total
inventory includes systems
and parts for milk house
plumbing, and equipment,
and milk transfer units.
One of the many points
which were stressed by Stout
was safety. Using a film
which depicted the
destructive power of
oveipressurized gases, the
refrigeration serviceman
illustrated how in one case a
pressurized unit rocketed an
estimated 3000 feet into the
air. He warned servicemen
to follow instructions and
precautionary measures.
