Working with purebred beef cattle breeders, a bull testing program was developed and has been mtregrated into the functions of the Center. He represented Penn sylvania in the formation of the Beef Improvement Federation, a national organization designed to standardize beef per formance testing programs throughout the Umted States and Canada. As livestock specialist, he assisted in developing and conductmg many in-depth sheep and beef cattle breeding, feeding, and management clinics and short courses. In 1971 he was granted a sabbatical leave to in vestigate the beef and sheep industries in New Zealand and Australia. While on leave, he was invited to present a lecture at New Zealand’s annual meeting of the Society of Animal Production. Information gathered during his leave was presented to over 110 livestock producer and in dustry meetings He serves as advisor to numerous state, regional, and national livestock organizations. He also is author of many livestock publications, 4-H project books, and feature articles In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the nation’s livestock in dustry, Professor Morgan was named an Honorary Fellow of the American Society of Animal Science in 1976. He was named Penn sylvania’s Livestock Man of the Year in 1975 and received Gamma Sigma Delta society’s Extension Award in 1974.
