Cows were 1.50-2.50 higher and bulls mostly 1.00 higher. Four day receipts 16,300 as compared 16,800 previous week and 18,400 a year ago. The upward spiral in fed cattle prices continued dur ing the current week and closing price levels were at the highest peak since June 1975. Demand was good throughout the period as most buying interests came into the week with minimal live inventories on hand were in need of cattle for im mediate requirements. Weekend rains over the trade territory again af fected early movement. But supplies were well distributed over the trading period. The upsurge in live prices was supported by sharp advances on carcass beef at the wholesale level. The overall finish of' the steer supply was rather at tractive with a fairly liberal percentage Choice and a moderate volume Choice and Prime. Much of the heifer supply was Good to average Choice. Feeders buyers were fairly ag gressive for 950-1050 lb. two way steers. Slaughter steers made up approximately 49%, heifers 33%, cows 10% and feeders 6%.
