“Sunshine,” an 8-year old Holstein in the Jacob Stoltz
fus herd, was in full brilliance during her recently com
pleted 305-day lactation. Her record of 24,068 pounds of
milk with a 4.4 per cent butterfat test and 1064 pounds of
bntterfat earned her a top spot for butterfat among
Chester County cows on DHIA, Second place for butterfat
for lactations completed in March of 1978 belongs to
Richard Proud’s No. 129. She produced 21,078 pounds of
milk with a 4.8 per cent test and 1019 pounds of butterfat.
Runner-up in milk production was David Weaver’s
“Misty,” whose lactation reads: 26,039 pounds of milk
testing 3.6 per cent butterfat for 930 pounds butterfat. The
milk production champion was another cow in the Jacob
Stolfafns herd - “Magic,” - whose lactation reads: 26,723
pounds of milk, 3.1% and 837 pounds of butterfat.
