OLEY - “Strive to achieve
your goals! Don’t become
one of the many millions
infected by the disease
‘averagitis’,” Kirby Horst,
state FFA chaplin, told a
group which had gathered at
the Oley Valley High School
to honor those FFA mem
bers who had made
noteworthy ac
complishments during the
past year.
Horst went on to explain
how many victims of
‘averagitis’ become unable

HARRISBURG - Rep.
Noah Wenger, R-Lancaster,
urges motorboat owners to
apply immediately for their
new 1978-79 motorboat
license to avoid costly fines.
Wenger outlined impor
tant steps to remember
regarding renewals and
registrations including:
- Only boats with motors
are required to be
registered.
- Boats can be registered
with over 260 issuing agents
in Pennsylvania, including
county treasurers, many
marine dealers and sporting
goods stores. The Fish Com
mission will handle registra
tions for the first time this
year. The Department of
Revenue previously process
ed applications.
- Registration renewal
can be done by mail with ap
plication renewal forms
which are mailed each year.
“To register for the first
time, submit all applica
tions, sales tax form RSU
375, and a check of $4 for
boats less than 16 feet long,
and $6 for boats over 16
feet,” Wenger said.
Wenger also reminds
boaters that important safe
ty rules are enforced to en
sure safe boating on Penn
sylvania waters.
“Each person on board a
boat must wear an approved
flotation device. Other
equipment required varies
according to the type and
size boat.
“Because different bodies
of water have different zon
ing and operational regula
tions, all boat owners should
be aware of the local rules
of the water they plan to use.
“I urge people to know and
obey the rules of boating
and, if possible, to take a
boating course designed to
save lives,” Wenger said.
The Pennsylvania Fish
Commission supplies a
booklet entitled “A Sum
mary of Boating Regula
tions.”

crowd. The symptoms in
clude .lack of goals, en
thusiasm, and dreams for
the future. The only cure is
personal pride, he explained.
To avoid this disease he
urged his fellow FFA
members to become doers,
to make a dream and strive
to reach it.
“The people infected with
averagitis don’t plan to fail,”
he said, “they fail to plan.”
The state chaplin urged his
audience to take advantage
of opportunities, to ask,
seek, and knock for them
because they will not always
be handed out freely.
Proof that goals can be
achieved, and that the work
involved while trying to
attain them is worth the
many efforts it may take,
became evident during the
banquet held on April 18.
