' In the com contest, won by Hershey with 209 bushels per acre, Stanley Vasco and Richard Drumm followed in second and third place, respectively. Vasco har vested 199 bushels from his 1-acre field while Drumm picked 184 bushels. Other FFA Foundation medal winners called up for honors were: Tom Kirk, dairy; Ron Clark, crops; Bryan Groff and Dave Holzbauer, beef; Greg Phillips, livestock; Dave Ramsay, placement in agricultural production; Mike Rhoades, swine production; Ed Griest, agricultural sales and service; Scott Frantz, agricultural processing; Tina Bucher, horse proficiency; Kim Landis, fish and wildlife; and Robert Frick, agricultural mechanics. The six national officers, representatives of 510,000 FFA members nationwide, were in Chicago as part of a year-long program taking them all over the country as official representatives of the FFA program. After morning meetings with industry officials in Chicago, the FFA group had lunch at the general office of Standard Oil Company (Indiana),' parent company of the Amoco subsidiaries. Officers asked questions about energy and its relationship to agriculture, particularly the relationship between energy prices and food. Later, the officers toured the Standard Oil and Carl Hershey earned silver medals and Charles Blevins captured » bronze. Carl Hershey was also the recipient of the Junior Agriculture Book award. Recognizing the con tributions to fee FFA from citizens in fee community, the Solanco Chapter in ducted Aaron Click and David Stoddard as honorary members.
