MMjncaster Farming, Saturday, March 11,1978 _ Farm Women Societies Lancaster Co, Society 5 Lancaster County Farm Women Society 5 met on February 25 at the home of Matilda and Elizabeth Workman, East Petersburg. Twenty-five members were present. It was announced that some members will be going to Conestoga View, March 16, to play bingo. Members voted to give a donation to the arthritis Foundation. Entertainment for the afternoon was a spelling bee. Next meeting of the group will be at the home of Mary Emrich. Lancaster Co, Society 6 The hoine of Mrs. Katie Brandt was the setting of the recent meeting of Lancaster County Farm Women Society 6. Edyth Brubaker served as co-hostess. March 16 four members will go to the Conestoga View Home to help entertain the guests. On April 6, the group will be guests of Society 17, at Shady Maple at 1 p.m. Tickets will be available for members to attend the Spring Rally May 17 at the Hersbey Convention Center, hosted by the Lebanon County Farm Women. A food sale will be held March 25 at the farm of Mrs. Rhoda Risser. Mrs. Walton Moyer spoke on the theme Springtime is song and poetry. The April meeting of the group will be in the home of Mrs. Ray Hixon. Lancaster Co, Society 12 Members of Lancaster County Farm Women Society 12 met recently at the home of Mrs. John Kindig to sew for the Cancer Society. At the March meeting, a silent auction will be held. The meeting will be at the home of Blanche Wissler. Lancaster Co, Society 13 On March 4, Lancaster County Farm Women Society 13 entertained Society 2 at a buffet luncheon held at the Lancaster Farm and Home Center. County officers were also invited. Mrs. Aaron Snader sang several solos and also led the group in singing. Her daughter, Missie, played the flute as part of die af ternoon’s entertainment. Mrs. John Buckwalter, Ronks, gave the ladies a tour of Lancaster County. It was decided by the group to have the Welsh Mt. Medical Center as the project for the year. The group is also to help in selling carnations for MS on May 11 to 13. The group will be entertaining at the county home on July 20. The April 14 meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Floyd McClenaghan, Lancaster, starting at 7:30 p.m. York Co, Society 12 York County Farm Women Society 12 met at the home of Mrs. Romaine Shelley, York, with 17 members and 2 visitors present. Business meeting of the group was conducted by Mrs. Janet Kohler, President. A donation was approved to be given to the MS Fund. Speaker for the meeting was Mrs. Georgene Binham of the Pa. Society 16 York County Farm/ Women Society 16 met at the home of Miss Deloris Gettys, York, for their February meeting. Helen Wilkins, an ex change student at Dover Area High School, showed slides of her native New Zealand and talked’ of her homeland. The business session was in charge of President Mrs. Alma Stambaugh. Group 16 will entertain Group 30 at a later date. A bowling party will be held by the group on April 17 at Weighstown Bowling Lanes. The next meeting of the group will be March 28 at Moser’s Restaurant, York. The February 27 meeting of York County Farm Women Society 27 was held at the home of Lois Kilbum. There was discussion at the meeting of having a yard and bake sale on June 1,2, and 3, at the home of Lauretta Markley. There will also be a few bus tnps planned this Summer, one May 13, a threatre trip June 11, and in July, a moonlight cruise. Refreshments were served and games played after the meeting.
