science, whose speech was
entitled, “Agriculture and
Warfare.” Prescott received

In third place was Virginia
K. Stokes of Westtown,
junior in agricultural
business management, who
received $lOO. “Agriculture-
Your Job, Your Business,”
was the title of her talk.

in animal science; and
Kenneth L. Winebark, of
Rochester Mills, sophomore

unity at NFU convention

- About 30 Pennsylvanians
attended the 76th annual
convention of the National
Farmers Union, here,
demonstrating, in the words
of one, “our need to unify as
farmers and work together
on the national level.”
Albert H. Mellinger of
Strasburg, Pa., chairman of
the board of Pennsylvania
Farmers Union, stressed the
need for broad cooperation
among farmers.
“What’s good for the grain
farmer in turn is good for the
dairyman or the cattle
farmer,” said Mellinger.
The Pennsylvania Farmers
in agricultural education.
These each received $75.
The judges were Dr. Daryl
K. Heasley and Dr. James H.
Mortensen of the College of
Agriculture faculty and Ms.
Patricia Milford of McLean,
Va., graduate student in
speech communication.

“We, of course, feel strongly
