Diamond International
Corporation, a major
manufacturer of automated
equipment for egg producers
and processors, announces
the availability of 13 new
products for 1978.
Known the world over for
its automated machines, the
Diamond Corporation
operates out of headquarters
in Bremen, West Germany,
and Farmington, Mich. The
distributor for Pennsylvania
is the E.M. Herr Equipment
firm of Willow Street,
Lancaster County.
The introduction of 13 new
products in 1978 is the most
ever in one year, say
Diamond International
officials. The new line in
cludes seven new cage
systems, which are part of
the “Egg Maker Series.”
Producers may also choose
from four feeding systems.
Other new products include
a plastic flats washer, spin
dryer, plastic egg flats,
packing machine, and a new
PA-90 egg processing
system.
The new PA-90 has a
capacity of 32,400 eggs per
hour. Eggs enter the system
six side wide from ah
automated loader or Page
Systems Orientor. They
move gently on continuous
spools through the washer,
candling area and onto the
grader. The PA-90 is com
pact, having a space
requirement of just 22 feet
by 31 feet.
Diamond International’s
new 35-case per hour Farm
Packer features a low
profile, being just 40 inches
high. One man can pack eggs
from 150,000 birds in just
eight hours. The unit can be
fed from across collection
belt through an egg escaltor.
The firm’s new plastic
flats washer cleans with high
pressure cold water, which
enables the operator to save
energy. It automatically
shuttles two flats at a time
from either a Diamond
System 90-or 140-case per
hour loader mto the wash
chamber. The flats are
washed top and bottom m a
horizontal position, pass
through a sanitizing spray
raise, tilted to a near ver
tical position, and pushed
into a double set of stackers
to dram. Water is recycled.
The companion unit to the
new flats washer is the new
Spmdryer, which has a
capacity of 150 to 170 plastic
flats at a time. It’ll take up to
60 loads per hour, according
to the manufacturer. Cen-
trifugal force does the job.
Diamond Automation is
now also marketing Phillips
plastic egg flats world-wide.
The 30-egg flats are made
out of translucent white
plastic and are available
with a one-half inch color
identification band of a
company name molded onto
the plastic. Another feature
is their configuration for
fast, uniform cooling of eggs
and space saving stacking.
The new cage system in
cludes two, three, and four-
high, floor supported and
roof suspended fully
automated layer systems,
and single tier floor sup-
ported and roof suspended
starter-grower systems.
Four types of feeding
systems are compatible with
the producer’s choice of cage
systems.
For producers who prefer
poultry equipment introduced
higher bird density with the
reverse cage concept.
Diamond Automation has
developed new 4-tier
modified stair step stystem.
It features a big reverse
cage with Contour front. Any
of the four Diamond feeding
systems can be used. No
chute scrapers are used on
the manure drying boards.
A single tier starter
grower cage system is
available.
An all new cage design
makes this system unique.
The 24 in. wide by 35 in. deep
cage is actually a cage
within a cage. Chicks are
started in the front part of

the cage. The mid-cage
partition, which holds the
chicks in the front part of the
cage, is raised to form the
top of the section. The birds
then use the entire cage area
to grow out. The labor of
transferring birds to
growing cages is eliminated.
For pullet growers who want
a suspended cage system, a
cage design offers the same
as the on the floor supported
single tier system. A sturdy
two-point suspension is used
instead of the, channel iron
floor supports. Both systems
use an adjustable cup
watering system that fits in
a notch in the front of the

center of the cage.
The 3-deck “Egg Maker
Series” eliminates manure
chute scrapers and requires
less electrical energy. It
features the patented
Keenco Contour Cage with 12
in., 15 in., or 24 in. width and
a new 20 in. depth.
Producers can select a flat
chain feeder, a link chain
feeder, the Keenco F-80
chain feeder, or the
Feedsaver traveling hopper
system with deep “V”
trough. The producer has
complete flexibility in the
type of feeding, watering,

ventilation, lighting, and
type of building he wants. -
The 2-high layer cage
system has features which
are the same as in the 3-deck
unit. The space saving
modifier stair step con
figuration is very compact
so it’s ideal to increase bird
density hen remodeling a
narrow house with low
ceilings. This is the first
Keenco two tier cage system
available with the Feed
saver system.
Another innovation is that
for the first time a producer
can combine the Lawler
layer cage with the Diamond
automatic feeding and egg

collection unit to have a fully
automated, 2-tier, full
stairstep system. Cages are
available in an assortment of
sizes. Either the flat chain,
link chain, or F-80 feeding
system may be used.
The Egg Maker Series also
offers a Lawler suspended 2-
high layer unit. This system
is similar to the new Lawler
2-tier floor supported system
excent it’s suspended from
the roof. A two-point
suspension is used to provide
more rigidity than is
possible with theordinary
one-point suspension. The
