County 4-ITers belonging to
the Livestock Club were
more than anxious to attend
their second annual banquet,
held February 3 at the

Highlighting the evening
of celebration, after a very
large, well planned dinner,
was the presentation of
awards to club members
who had accomplished
outstanding achievements
during the previous year.
The awards were presented
before a large audience of
Ralph Danner, David Najarian, Gail Snyder, and
Carol Krause.
well over 200 people by the
1977 club presidents; Ardith
Wetzel of the Beef Club,
Sarah Fretz representing
Sheep club members and
Tim Wessner from the swine
club. ■
Receiving awards for their
outstanding efforts and
accomplishments as
members of the livestock
judging team were: Joe
Sikorski, Diane Krause,
Grant Grim, and Ardith
Wetzel.
Gad Snyder, New Tripoli,
secretary of the livestock
club seemed to continually
be in the spotlight as she was
recognized for her many
accomplishments. She won
the Outstanding 4-H Beef
Club Member Award,
Champion Beef Fitter
Award, and Reserve
Champion Senior Showman
Award.
Carol Krause, Slatington,
accepted the award for
Champion 4-H Steer and
Ralph Danner, East Texas,
received the Best Rate of
Gain Award.
Other beef awards were
presented to Willi Wilson for
Junior Champion Showman,
Darin Ruch - Reserve Junior
Champion Showman; Sarah
Fretz - Champion In
termediate Showman;
Melissa Fretz - Reserve
Champion Intermediate
Showman; and Grant Grim -
Senior Champion Showman.
Accepting three awards
for accomplishments in the
Sheep Club was again, Gail
Snyder. This time Gail was
awarded the Most Helpful
Member Award, Champion
Senior Showman Award, and
Champion Senior Fitter
Award.
The Best Shepherd Award
was presented to Sarah
Fretz, Zionsville, Marlyn
Stroh n was named the
Champion Junior Sheep
Fitter while Melissa Fretz
received the Champion
Intermediate Showman
Award. Junior _ Chapion
Fitter was Ruth Grim and
Champion Intermediate
Fitter was Gary Fetter.
Receiving awards for the
Best Rate of Gain in the
Swine Club was Fritz
Najanan. Fritz’s hog gained
a total of 231 pounds
