I know there .are moments in the bitter cold
weather, when I look out the bedroom window and
see all that snow, and I can think of 1001 reasons
of why Spring should come, but snow does have its
moments too I have to admit that I don’t ap
preciate snow now as much as I did as a child, but I
still like it most of the time
Snow seen across the rolling fields, filling the
valleys, and decorating the trees is a sight that still
takes my breath away It has its own special
beauty, glistening white, pure and untrampled,
and 1 have to gaze upon it till the sun’s reflecting
eyes causes my eyes to mist and the panoramic
landscape to fade from view
Sunsets, with their glowing reds, purples, and
pinks soaking into the bluetmged snow, show
colors that can never be duplicated by man To
me, no two sunsets are the same and each one
viewed is to be treasured
But the best time is a cold, crisp night, when 1
can get all bundled up against the freezing tem
peratures and venture out into that dark world As
I trundle across the fields, the crusty snow will
squeak underneath my feet, as my boots leave
evidence that I have passed this way.
The world seems so quiet and pure Most of its
occupants are asleep or huddled m their warm
homes, away from the sharpness of the twinkling,
star-filled, night air There is just enough light to
make out shapes that with the snow adorning
them take on new identities. My imagination runs
wild as 1 try to reflect on what each whitely
sculptured object reminds me of.
Yes, snow does have its good moments and I
must keep them in mind. For they are worth the
times that the car gets stuck, the freezing
moments spent outside working, the despair of
losing one mitten, the slipperyness that lurks
waiting for me on icy steps, the agohy of shoveling
the walk only to have the snow fall off the roof ten
minutes later
