Society 6
The Berks County Farm
Women Society 6 held a
meeting on January 23 with
19 members attending. Mrs.
Nora Sweitzer, Limekiln,
was hostess.
It was announced at the
meeting that the society won
second place at the State
Convention in the special
projects essay contest. The
group also decided to give a
donation to the March of
Dimes.
The group is planning to
tour the Reading Eagle in
March.
A presentation by
Willard Fisher will be given
at the next meeting, which
will be held February 21,
starting at 8 p.m. Hostess
will be Mrs. Randolph
Hettnck, Oley. Members are
asked to bring their by-law
books to this meeting.

Mrs. Kathryn Eberly was
hostess for the recent
Lancaster County Farm
Women Society 3 meeting,
held at the Salem Lutheran
Church, Ephrata.
Mrs Betty Edwards,
outgoing president
presented the gavel to the
new president of the group,
Mrs. Miriam Moore, who
then conducted the business
session.
It was decided to give a
contribution of $25 to the
Lancaster Co. Fuel
Emergency Program.
Members were reminded to
remember the group’s
adopted daughter. Miss
Dons Hash, at the Hamburg
State School. Delegates to
the state convention
reported on their trip.

The first meeting of the
new year of Lancaster
County Farm Women
Society 5 was held at the
Hempfield Church of the
Brethren on January 28.
Hostess for the meeting was
Anna Ruth Ebersole.
The business meeting was
conducted by President Jean
Zurm. Convention reports
were given.
On February 16, Society 5
and Society 6 will entertain
the guests at Conestoga
View.
Entertainment for the
meeting was provided by
members and their children.

Women Society 14 held their
January meeting at the
Paradise Mennonite
Church. Twenty-one women
came out to the all day
ancer pad sewing.
The afternoon business
meeting was in charge of
President Viola Hostetter.
State convention reports
were given.
Miss Nancy Henkle, a 4-H
Youth Exchangee to
Belgium, gave a program of
quiz, artifacts, and shdes.
Hostesses were Mrs. Rhoda
Rutt, Mrs. Esther Landis,
and Polly Stoltzfus.
The next meeting will be
held February 8, at 1 p.m. at
the home of Mrs. Ellen
Newswanger. Lola
Nicholson, security officer
from Middletown will
present the annual safety
program. Hostesses will be
Mrs. Gladys Esbenshade,
Mrs. Helen Hershey, and
Mrs. Thelma Mylm.

meeting, which was held

visited the Tabernacle and
heard and saw the duties of
the High Priest.
The business session of the
meeting was held at the
home of Mrs. Richard
Hershey.
The next meeting of the
Society will be on February
18 at the Farm and Home
Center, Lancaster. Members
of Society 7 will be guests of
the group.

Women Society 27 met at the
home of Mrs. Luke
Brubaker, January 24, with
21 members present.
Miss Clara Martin, a
dietician who represented
the American Heart
Association, Lancaster
Chapter, presented the
program. She showed a film
showing how to reduce the
risk of heart attacks.
Refreshments were served
by hostess, Barbara
Brubaker, and cohostess,
Miriam Kauffman.

belltown, who spoke on
fabrics and explained dif
ferences in types of cotton.
The business meeting was
led by Mrs. George
