Shelhamer expressed his concern that many Penn sylvanians neglect to buy licenses for their dogs. Shelhamer said that more than 66,009 stray dogs had to be humanely disposed of last year in Pennsylvania, ad ding that many were someone’s lost pet. “Licensing could have prevented the loss of many of these dogs. If you love your dog, license it,” he added. The Agriculture Secretary noted that he hoped that at least half of the state’s dog population could be licensed this year.
