J 10—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, February 4,1978 Eshleman speaks to Farm and Home Foundation LANCASTER - Honorable Ed Eshleman was the featured speaker at the 14th annual meeting of the Farm and Home Foundation of Lancaster County. With an attendance of over 100 people listening, the former member of the U.S. House of Represen tatives gave his impressions of the media over the past decade. Basically, Eshleman stated that although he realized that there was plenty to criticize in the United States in the past ten years, he still believes that this country is the best place in the world to live. He noted that the U.S. contributes more to the charity of the world than any other nation. However, Eshleman went on to state that he feels that the news media is too negative, choosing to print bad news on the front page of papers, and concentrate on the negative side of life on TV and radio. Under other business at the meeting, the president of the foundation. Jay E. Landis, reported that the financial condition of the Farm and Home Center was good, although expenses continued to rise over the past year. A treasurer’s report was given. Foundation members are hopeful that the debt owed on the Farm and Home Center would be wiped out within the next two years.
