Harold Nissley’s 5-year-old Holstein, named Winnie, came close to winning all the
honors last month after having finished her lactation with 23,789 pounds of milk and
918 pounds of fat. The performance gave her the undisputed top spot for milk, but it
was narrowly bested in butterfat by a cow in the John Hertzler herd. His Lynne, also a
5-year old Holstein, checked in with statistics of 20,237 pounds of milk and 920 pounds
of butterfat.
