Three VSDA agencies merged
WASHINGTON, - The
U.S. Department of
Agriculture has created a
new agency, the Economics,
Statistics, and Cooperatives
Service (ESCS), by the
merger of the Economic
Research Service, the
Statistical Reporting Ser
vice, and the Farmer
Cooperative Service,
Secretary of Agriculture Bob
Bergland announced
recently.
“Our research efforts on
the economics of
agriculture, our research on
cooperatives, and the
reporting of agricultural
statistical information are
closely related,” Secretary
Bergland said. “The merger
will enhance coordination of
these activities and make
the entire operation more
efficient.”
