Seipt ofEaston, Tuesday night received the 1977 Charles E. Cowan Memorial Award from the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association . during ceremonies at the 62nd Farm Show. The award, “for leader-" ship contributing to the improvement and promotion of the Pennsylvania dairy industry,” was presented to Seipt at the 107th annual meeting of the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association. Seipt received a trophy. The award winner has an outstanding Holstein herd that has consistently made top-notch records in Penn sylvania Dairy Herd Im provement Association production testing. His current rolling herd average for 73 cows is 19,006 pounds of milk and 764 pounds of butterfat. Seipt has bred and developed 84 -100,000 pound cows and 17 Gold Medal Dams. He won 19 Progressive Breeders Registry Awards. Currently he is a national director of the Holstein- Friesian Association of America, and he is also a past president of the Dairy Shrine Club, Pennsylvania Holstein Association, and Pennsylvania Purebred Dairy Cattle Association, and past director of die Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association and Penn sylvania Dairy Herd Im provement Association. Seipt is an approved dairy cattle judge and served as chairman of the state delegation to the National Holstein Convention. The Charles E. Cowan Memorial Award, established three years ago, recognizes dairy farmers who have made outstanding contributions to the state’s dairy industry.
