Kucemchak’s

Kathleen Baroni,
Downingtown, showed the
champion Dorset ewe;
David Lytle, Strawberry Hill
Hampshires, New London,
had the champion Hamp
shire ewe; and William
MacCauley, HI, Atglen Rl,
took top honors with his
Suffolk ewe.
Other Lancaster Farming
area winners included
Christian Herr, who showed
the reserve champion Dorset
ewe, Sarah Lynn Brubaker,
Lancaster, whose Hamp
shire was named reserve
champion in its,breed, and
Tim Donough who showed
his Southdown ewe to a
reserve championship.
John Arrell, Jr. also
showed the reserve cham
pion Cheviot ewe, while
Steve Calvert, Berlin R 4,
Somerset County, took both
the champion and reserve
champion honors with his
Shrophshire ewes, Jeff
Calvert, also of Somerset
County, had the grand
champion Southdown ewe.
Gary Kwiswek showed the
reserve champion Suffolk
ewe.
In the showmanship
classes, Kathy Baroni, of
Chester County, won the 11
yr. and under class. Charla
Janney, York County, placed
highest in the 14 yr. and over
class.
Grand champion showman
came from the 12 to 14 year
age class and was Wayne
Hess, Conestoga Rl, Lan
caster County. The 14 year
old youth showed a Suffolk
wether market lamb. It was
his first championship in
showmanship in three years
of competing in 4-H.
Charla Janney also won
the sheep blocking contest
held later in the afternoon as
part of the show. Sarah
Fretz, Zionsville Rl, Lehigh
County, placed second, and
Christian Herr was third.
Susan Hastings, Villanova,
Delaware County, placed
fourth, and Bethann Nehoda,
Bucks County, took fifth.
The judge for the sheep
competition was Buster
Wilson, Rural Retreat, Va.
