B. Lehman wins Sewickiey Trophy
By DIETER KRIEG
CAMP HILL - A large
trophy which stands nearly
as tall as its recipient was
given to 11-year old Barry
Lehman on Tuesday. The
young Guernsey showman
received the prestigious
honor for having had the
grand champion of his breed
at the Farm Show.
Known as the Sewickiey
Trophy, the coveted prize
was the creation of a now
defunct Guernsey Club that
existed near Pittsburgh
earlier in this century.

Barry and the other three
Lehman children would be
eligible for it. Last year and
the year before the high
honor went to Alisa Mane

The 11-year old Lehman is
thought to be the youngest
recipient of the award in the

In addition to the big and
beautiful Sewickiey Trophy,
Lehman was given the
George W. Snyder Award, a
sparkling bowl which is
annually given to the
champion of the Guernsey
Show at the Pennsylvania
Junior Dairy Show. That
event was held at the Farm
Show Complex last Fall.
Both awards were given
Tuesday during the 47th
annual banquet of the

Barry is the young man who
came away with the most.'
Like many a dairy farm boy
his age, he’s very much
involved with the work at
home. A sixth grader at
Kreutz Creek Elementary
School, he owns more'than
half a dozen Guernseys. His
chores include helping with
the milking, feeding dry
cows and heifers, and
cleaning up.
Barry’s champion cow at
the Farm Show and at last
year’s Junior Dairy Show
was Honeycrest Falcon
Constance, a daughter of
Spring Ridge G Falcon. She
won the aged cow classes in
both shows and went on to
become grand champion.
The Pennsylvania Junior
Guernsey Breeders
Association named June
Beatty of Indiana and H.
Thomas Kirk of Peach
Bottom as the Outstanding
Girl and Outstanding Boy,
respectively, for 1977, Both
have been very active in
showing and promoting their
breed.

WHY
SHOULD
YOU
CONSIDER
AGRI-SOIL
CONDITIONER?
Farm Observations Show:
1. Crumbly, More Porous Soil
2. Elimination of Wet Spots in Gumbo-like Soil
3- Increased Effectiveness of Tile
4. Reduction in Amount of Water Runoff
5. Easier Tillage of Soil
6. More Uniformity in Growth and Maturity
7. Higher Yield Potential
Agri-SC soil conditioner works on the soil by breaking down its
plasticity 20 per cent and increasing the permability and
penetration of the water by 100 per cent. Tests to prove these
results have been done by the Geological Service of Omaha,
Nebraska. By using Agri-SC, the farmer should be able to save on
his equipment wear, his fuel use, and the fertilizer needed on his
fields.
Agri-SC soil conditioner loosens the soil so air and water can
move down into the ground. Farmers across the nation are using
Agri-SC to eliminate wet spots and reduce run off. Agri-SC will also
increase the effectiveness of existing tile.
