$10.35 paid for October milk
NEW YORK, N.Y. - Dairy
farmers supplying milk
plants regulated under the
New York New Jersey
marketing orders during
October will be paid on the
basis of a uniform price of
$10.35 per hundred pounds or
22.3 cents per quart. Market
Administrator Thomas A.
Wilson, who announced
October’s price, also stated
that the uniform farm price
was $10.34 per hundred
weight in September 1977
and $10.40 per hun
dredweight m October 1976.
The uniform price is a
market wide weighted
average of the value of farm
milk used for fluid and

October. This fund was
generated by reducing the
uniform price paid

dairy farmers supplying the
New York-New Jersey
Marketing Area was
766,975,532 pounds during
October 1977. This was more
than 25.4 million pounds

$81,008,492.99. Mr. Wilson
explained that this included
differentials required to be
paid to dairy farmers but not
voluntary premiums or
deductions authorized by the
farmer.
Regulated milk dealers
(handlers) utilized
394,567,304 pounds or 51.4 per
cent of the total amount of
milk for Class I. The Class I
milk is used for fluid milk
products such as
homogenized, flavored, low
test and skim milks. For
October 1977, handlers paid
$11.04 per hundredweight, or
