Meeting considers calf hutches
NEW HOLLAND - The
Garden Spot Adult Farmer
Program will sponsor an
educational meeting on
dairy calf hutches and calf
management on November
22 at 7:30 p.m. in the
agriculture classroom of the
Garden Spot High School,
here.
A number of area
dairymen are trying calf
hutches as a means of
raising healthier
replacement stock and the
purpose of this meeting is to
examine design features of
various calf hutches and to
discuss management of the
calf in the hutch. Several
area dairymen who are
using hutches will discuss
their experiences. Slides of

from Myerstown, will
display one of his hutches in
the agriculture shop. Dr.
Geroge Zimmerman, local
veterinarian, will also have
some comments on the
health aspects of raising
calves in hutches. Design
plans to build hutches will be
available at this meeting,
which is open to all area
dairymen. Refreshments
will be served.
