MANHEIM - The
Manheim Farm Show Sales
of the FFA hogs*, lambs, and
beef shown at the fair was
held October 7, at the show
mg of the fair. A total of 45
hogs, 8 lambs, and 14 beef
cattle were sold.
The grand champion hog,
a 229 lb. animal shown by
Stanley Heisey, was sold for
$2.20/lb. to Hatfield Packing
Company, Hatfied, Pa. Total
cost of the hog was $503.80.
The reserve champion
hog, shown by Nelson
Breneman, wighing 210 lbs.
sold to Smuckers Custom
Butchers, Manheim, for a
price of $1.25 lb.
Tun Frey, who sold his
grand champion market
lamb, weighing 110 lbs.,
received a price of $.72/lb.,
from Walter Dunlap, Lan
caster, Dunlap also bought
the reserve champion lamb,
shown by Duane Hernley,
which sold for a price of
$.52/lb.
In the baby beef sale,
Kevin Rohrer’s animal,
which had been chosen
grand champion at the fair,
sold for a price of $7l 25 per
hundredweight, making a
total price of $833.63. Buyer
of the animal was Steigel
Builders, Manheun R 1
The reserve champion
FFA steer, shown by Jay
Nissley, was bought by
White Oak Mill, White Oak,
for the price of $59.50 per
hundredweight. The 1070 lb.
animal brought a total price
of $636.65
In other activities at the
Manheim Fair, the tractor
driving contest winners were
announced.
George Tarker, a
Manheim FFA member,
won the FFA tractor contest.
Second place winner was
