Maryland grain
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Gram
producers in Maryland are
banding together to promote
the general well-being of
their industry through the
newly formed “Maryland
Grain Producers
Association” which is now
enrolling charter members.
The group which has been
formed with the help of the
Maryland Agricultural
Commission, Cooperative
Extension Service and State
Department of Agriculture,
has as its prime objective
creation of a unified voice
for the state’s vast gram
industry
Stated areas of concern
the association will work in
include; grain exports,
grade standards, parity
programs, environmental
concerns, research,
legislation, education and
marketing.
Areas the association will
not become involved in are
the actual buying and selling
of gram, handling gram,
buying and selling of crop
inputs (such as fertilizer,
seed or pesticides), tran
sportation or withholding
actions.
