Because of this foreign
influence, the World Dairy
Expo is informally known as
“the melting pot of the dairy
industry.
All totalled, four major
breeds hold their national
shows at the free Expo
(parking is one dollar), with
over 1600 head of cattle
judged this year. Two
hundred and 85 entries took
part in the National Ayrshire
Show, 77 in the National
Guernsey show; 315 in the
Central National Brown
Swiss show, and 647 in the
ever popular Holstein show
And, for those who don’t
show animals, but know a
good cow when they see one,
dairy judging contests were
held for 4-H’ers, FFA
members, and collegiate
groups.
Of the 118 FFA dairy
judging teams that gathered
at Madison and judged on

This year over 250 dairy
displays were set up around
the coliseum on the 60,000
square feet of display area.
For the weary, there was
7676 upholstered seats to rest
upon and view the brightly
lit, well ventilated, and clean
arena.
