    4-H’ers culminate year with awards ceremony

BAIR - In a grand
culmination of a year of
diversified activities, York
County 4-H’ers and their
families gathered at the 4-H
center at Bair for the annual
Achievement Day.
Topping the two-hour
presentation of awards and
trophies was the naming of a
king and queen to reign over
4-H activities and actively
promote youth involvement.

Bonnie Wire, 17-year-old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Russell Wire, Spring Grove,
was chosen the outstanding
girl overall; and Paul Myers
m, age 16, was selected the
outstanding boy overall.
Bonnie has carried
numerous projects in her
several years of 4-H work,
but selects photography as
her favorite. Paul is active in
tiie Thomasville club and
has won several awards in
(he area of health. He is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Myers, Jr., Thomasville Rl.
Two sisters took home the

was 14-year-old Steve
Trostle, sone of Mr. and Mrs.
Ronald Trostle, Red Lion R 2,
who is active in livestock
projects through the Ore
Valley club. The rooke girl
trophy went to Leslie King,
duaghter of Mr. and Mrs.
Paul King, Delta R 2. A
mbmber of the Airville area
community and dairy clubs,
Leslie captured several top
diary placings during her
first year of exhibiting. Ray
Swartz, Hanover, received
the rookie boy award. The
son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Swartz, Hanover R 2, Ray
carried several projects,
including entomology and
photography.
Capturing first place over
a field of five talent entries
were Paul and Wayne
Eyster, from the Davidsburg
