Bensing, Krall win 4-H awards UNIVERSITY PARK - In the 4-H National Awards Program, Robert Bensing, 19, of 701 Klein Avenue, Lebanon, was named state winner in forestry; and Richard Krall, 20, of 200 Flintville Road, Lebanon, Used Steiger Wildcat 111 210 H.P. A/C; AM/FM/T ape; 3 pt.; 580 hrs. was named state nominee for an animal science scholarship. Bensing will receive an expense-paid trip to National 4-H congress in Chicago, November 27 to December 1. Both Bensing and Krall will Reconditioned Versatile 145 Cummins Powered/3 pt. Hitch compete for scholarships at the national level with winners to be announced during the national con ference. Support of the forestry project is provided by the International Paper Com pany, and the animal science scholarship, Allied Mills, Inc. Robert Sensing is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sensing, Sr., a sophomore at Penn State majoring in horticulture. He has been a 4-H member for seven years. A member of the Nor solebco 4-H Community Club and Happy Trail Riders 4-H Horse Club, Robert served as president, vice president, treasurer and news reporter. He also assisted with club activities and events as a teen leader. The state forestry contest winner completed projects in wildlife conservation, forestry, gardening, flowers, veterinary science, horse, teen leadership, and agronomy. Locally, Robert took part in the county fair, day camp, Olympic day, and officers training. He also participated in the Regional 4-H Teen Leaders Retreat, District 4-H Camp, Pennsylvania 4-H Leader ship Congress, State 4-H Achievement Days, Citizenship Short Course, and National Junior Hor ticultural Association Convention. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Krall, Richard Krall is a junior at Virginia Polytechnic Institute majoring in dairy science. He has been a 4-H member for 10 years. A member of the Cedar Crest 4-H Dairy Club, he served as president, secretary, and treasurer, and assisted as a teen leader the past six years. The scholarship nominee completed projects in dairy, tractor maintenance, automotive, and teen leadership. In Lebanon County, he participated in the dairy show, demonstration con test, and officers training. He also took part in the Regional 4-H Demonstration HARRISBURG - State exhibitors fared well Tuesday in the Milking Shorthorn classes at the Pennsylvania All-American Dairy Show held in the Farm Show complex. Samuel G. Yoder of Pinesedge Farms, Shoemakersville, was named premier breeder and exhibitor, continuing the Yoder family dominance of the Milking Shorthorn competition. Yoder’s entry, “Pinesedge Melody,” exhibited by daughter Nedra, was named grand champion and senior champion female. The 6- year-old cow has been the grand champion cow in the Junior show for the past two years. The reserve grand and reserve senior champion, six-year-old “Greenvista SVPP Peggy tod,” is owned and exhibited by the Three Springs Farm, Newville.
