The English judge was Mrs. Judy Newvine, Jersey Shore, Pa.; Western judge was Mrs. Kathy Whitehill, Pleasant Gap, Pa.; and trail judge was Robert Mowrey, University Park, Pa. Prizes were awarded to the top six placings of each class, with the awards being spread throughout the different counties, and no one county dominating the show. Top placing winners in each class will go on to compete in the State 4-H Horse Show, usually the top two or three riders, depending on the state quota for that class. In the grooming and showmanship classes, Ricky display also captured a red ribbon in the school exhibits. The nineteen year old 4-H’er showed her horse, Positively program, FFA activities and a personal interview. Judging for the com petition was done by Dr. Robert Deck of the Lincoln Intermediate Unit, Ed Heindel of the York Office of Production Credit Association, and Leo Rutter who represented the York Fair management. Seattle Slew, undefeated winner of racing’s Triple Crown, had Agway horse feed as his training ration during the critical yearling period.
