this year after a reserve
berth at Ephrata in 1970
when she first started in
clubwork.
She purchased her animal
“Harvey” from Sam Wylie,
Octorara Farm, Nottingham
R 2, at a club calf sale held in
the end of November last
year. The steer, which
Gruber termed “modem
the right frame of calf... not
too tall . . . correct in lines
with the kind of finish we’re
looking for,” is being
groomed for Farm Show
where Linda has shown four
out of six years.
Martin, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert E. Martin, New
Holland R 3, is in his last year
of 4-H. “Henry”, his Sim
mental-Angus, was pur
chased from Fred Frey,
Quarryville R 2, and is out of
New York State. Although
Martin has taken the reserve
spot at the Ephrata Fair,
now, for three years, this
same cross took him to the
grand championship berth at
the New Holland Fair last
year. He also had reserve
grand champion at the 4-H
district roundup in 1976. A
1976 graduate of Garden Spot
High School, Martin is in
fanning with his father and
is an auctioneer.
The champion of the
lightweight class on Thur
sday evening went to Judy
Zimmerman, Ephrata Rl,
with a Chianina-Angus
cross. The reserve in that
weight division went to Tony
Everly, Denver R 2, with a
homebred Hereford.
Reserve mediumweight
honors went to Betty Reiff,
Lititz Rl, with a Hereford-
Simmental cross;- and
reserve heavyweight went to
