Reporter YORK, Pa. - An aged Hereford bull, owned by Twin Valley Farms, Breezewood, won the grand champion bull awards during the 1977 Penn sylvania Polled Hereford Summer Show, held Sep tember 11 at the York Fair. Reserve champion bull honors were taken by an early Summer yearling bull. "CMF” Tarus” was selected the grand champion bull of the Pennsylvania Polled Hereford Association’s summer show, held this year during the York Fair. From left are: C. J. The champion heifer banner went to Huckleberry Hall Farms, Smithsburg, Md.; Gail Snyder of New Tripoli exhibited the reserve champion heifer. About 50 animals paraded before Judge Sam Wylie, a beef breeder from Not tingham. Mr. and Mrs. John Hausner managed the show, sponsored jointly by the state Polled Hereford Association and the York Fair. First place in the Junior Heifer Calf class was Fiat Stone Lick Farm, Marianna. Fro-Man Farm, Kennett Square, won the second and third places. Winter Heifer Calf class was won by Spring Bottom Farms, Fairfield, with JDH Breezewood Rl, co-owner of the bull; Dr. Leslie Midla, Marianna, President of the Pa. Polled Hereford Association, Polled Hereford Princess, Gail Snyder, New Tripoli Rl; and little Tammy Kaye Miller, who carried home the ribbons. Polled Hereford champ Polled Herefords placing second. Schochary Ridge Farm, New Tripoli, was first in the Senior Heifer Call class. Second was JDH ‘'Polled Herefords, Dover; third, Laurel Ridge Farms, Ledgedale; fourth, Twin Valley Farms, Breezewood; fifth, Richard Maniscalco, Kennett Square; sixth, Bill Derr, Kennett Square. The Late Summer Yearling Heifer first place went to JDH Polled Herefords, Dover. Second was Jeffrey B. Golden, York Springs, and third was Patty Lou Maniscalco, Kennett Square. Huckleberry Hall Farm, Smithsburg, Md., placed first and second in the Early Summer yearling heifer class; third, Schochary Ridge Farm, New Tripoli; fourth, Scottland Farms of Gettysburg; fifth, JDH Polled Herefords, Dover; sixth, Fro-Man Farm, Kennett Square.
