Results tallied for Montgomery Co. 4-H fair
LANSDALE, Pa. - Richard
Bittner, mayor of Lansdale,
and Joe Kapusta, supervisor
of Towamencin Township,
opened the annual Mon
tgomery County 4-H Fair
recently held at the 4-H
Center, Snyder Road,
Lansdale. Thomas McClure,
president of the Montgomery
County Penn State Co
operative Extension Service,
congratualted 4-H members
on the exhibitions of their 4-
H project work. He also
expressed thanks to all of the
4-H leaders who worked
throughout the year. William
Paul, president of the 4-H
cabinet, welcomed everyone
to the 4-H Center.

tension staff, also introduced
Jeff Craig, Trappe, and *
Cindy Waltemyer
Collegeville, as the Out
standing 4-H Boy and Girl
from the county.
Over 800 4-H members
participated in the annual
fair, which marked the
completion of a year of work
on the part of these 4-H
members and leaders.
Two hundred and ten
exhibits were shown in
clothing and 94 in arts and
crafts.
4-H Dairy Show
Eighty-five 4-H dairy
animals were shown in the
annual dairy show.
Champion Holstein was
Hess-Hyoue Collect Cupid a
three-year-old shown by
Patty Seneko, Harleysville.
Reserve champion Holstein
was Spring-Bell Black Ruby,
an aged cow shown by
Marilyn Seipt, Lansdale.
Junior champion Holstein,
less than two years old, was
Lady Twin-Hills Yoho Pride,
a senior yearling shown by
Kathleen Kopistecki,
Royersford. Reserve junior
Holstein was Heitder Oakie
Faxnies Fancy, a senior calf
shown by Jonathan D.
Keener, Telford.
Champion Jersey was
Milestone Generators Fern,
a three-year-old shown by
Cynthia Waltemyer,
Collegeville, who also
showed the reserve cham
pion. Junior champion
Jersey was shown by Karen
Waltemyer, Collegeville,
and reserve junior champion
Jersey was shown by
Kathleen Kopistecki.
Champion Brown Swiss
was shown by Teresa
Saturday. Septembers, 1977

reserve champion was

Guernsey was shown by

wenksville, and reserve
champion Guernsey was
shown by James Collins,
Creamery. Judge for the
show was James Shaw,
Holstein breeder, Oley, Pa.
Twenty-seven of the
animals awarded blue
ribbons by the judge com
peted in the Southeastern
Pennsylvania 4-H Regional
Show held at the Allentown
Fair Grounds on September
1.
4-H dairy members are
also judg'ed on their showing
ability and the job they have
done to prepare their
animals for competition. Top
placing members in
showmanship in the senior
division for 4-H’ers over 14
years of age were: Cynthia
Waltemyer, Marilyn Seipt,
and Robert Freed. Jr.,
Harleysville; Dana Geyer,
Harleysville, and Patty
Seneko.
Top showman in the junior
division of under 14 years of
age' were: Jonathan D.
Keener, Ralph Freed,
Harleysville; Kathleen
Kopistecki; Linea Sue
Keener, Telford, and Dawn
Freed, Harleysville.
Top fitters in the senior
division were Roger Freed,
Harleysville; Cynthia
Waltemyer, Dana Geyer.
