Harold Forrester of
Chambersburg was third.
Both of the contests that day
pitted former and present
champions against each
other in their respective
divisions.
In the small plow division,
Myron Young of Cham
bersburg will carry the
Pennsylvania colors to the
national contest. He
defeated John Hess of
Dallastown and Harvey
Sauder of New Holland on
Wednesday for the chance to
go to El Paso. Tuesday’s
placings in the small plow
class are as follows: 1. John
Hess, Dallastown; 2. Paul
Hock, Shippensburg; 3.
Mark Young, Cham
bersburg; 4. Dennis Leffler,
Gretz; and Robert Foor,
Berlin.
The state’s best contour
plowman is Bob Miller of
Millersburg. Ron Martin of
Chambersburg finished
second, Robert Miller of
Berlin was third, and Earl
Carbaugh of Mc-
Connellsburg was fourth.

There is no national contour
plowing division, so none of
the above men will go to the
national contest as a com
petitor.
Another master with the
plows who was recognized on
Wednesday is Frank
Kocevar of Dauphin County.
Kocevar, 74, is a national
plowing champion and will
represent the United States
in world competition next
month in Holland. He has
won all three state cham
pionship divisions and
received the “triple crown”
award during a ceremony on
Wednesday at the Ag
Progress site.
The large outdoor
agricultural exhibition is
sponsored by Penn State
University, in cooperation
with farm machinery
dealers and numerous
agricultural agencies and
organizations.
Nearly 200 commercial
exhibitors exhibited ap
proximately $lO million
worth of equipment.
Exhibitors pay fees for
space at the Ag Progress
Days site and those funds
are used to stage the entire
event. Most anything a

farmer has or needs in his
farming operation or home
was on display. The theme
for this year’s big event was
“Food, Energy and Your
Future.” Scores of
demonstrations and
educational exhibits were
