Nations discuss wheat
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Re
presentatives of govern
ments of four major wheat
exporting countries recently
concluded a two-day
meeting in Washington to
discuss international wheat
matters.
The meeting dealt
primarily with an exchange
of views about possible
elements of a proposed new
international agreement
including both importing and
exporting countries. The
agenda also included a
review of the current and
prospective world wheat
situation, and an exchange
of views with respect to the
current size of world wheat
stocks and the general
depressed condition of world
wheat prices. The par
ticipating countries were
Argentina, Australia,
Canada, and the United
States.
Further meetings will be
held in coming weeks as a
part of continuing
CCC credit
program set
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The
U.S. Department of
Agriculture recently an
nounced that, with the
signing on Aug. 12 by the
President of the Depart
mental Appropriations Act,
the present Commodity
Credit Corporation (CCC)
Export Credit Sales
program for F Y 1978 is being
based on a $750 million
funding level.
CCC credit provides short
term commercial financing
for periods ranging from six
months to a maximum of
three years. Current interest
rates for six and 12-month
repayment terms are 7 per
cent with a U.S. bank, and 8
per cent with a foreign bank
repayment guarantee. For
two-year repayment terms,
the rates are 7% and 8% per
cent, and for terms in excess
of two years, 8 and 9 per
cent.
