Also on Thursday
evening’s agenda was a
talent contest. Ten per
formers took part with Scott
and Steve Eager, Denver Rl,
taking the first place honors.
Soctt and Steve, ages 14 and
11 respectively, performed a
song and composed by Scott.
Eleven-year-old Steve plays
flie string base, and Scott
plays the mandolin.
The brothers are the sons
of Mr. and Mrs. Edward
Eager, Denver Rl, and are
two year members of the
Nutrition and Crafts 4-H
Club where Scott is the
president. The brothers
received a $25 cash bonus for
their talent.
Runner-up in the talent
contest was Yvonne
Eshleman, Lancaster; and
third place went to Susan
Good, Strasburg. Miss
Eshleman received $l5 in
cash, and Miss Good earned
$lO for her performance.
Also on Thursday evening,
M. Max Smith, Lancaster
County agent, handed out
awards for ac
complishments achieved
during the year.
Fashion revue winners,
junior division, were
Christine Ebersole, Judy
Weaver, Jeanne Henry,
Patty Weaver, Juanita
Lapp, Joaane Brenneman.
Senior division winners were
Lois Good, Julie Bare,
Jeanne Martin, Susan
Howell, Robin Esbenshade,

Pickel, Elaine Good, Sandy
Weaver, Betsy Best.
Awards for demon
strations went to Mary Anne
Bassalin, Edith Yoder, Jane

Meek, Cindy Risser, Wanda
Yoder, Glen Scidman,
Martha Gegroy, and June
Grube.
Public speaking honors
went to Kim Weaver and
Phil Risser.
State winners in the
photography contest were
Ted Esbenshade, Lisa
Bloom, Kevin Hamley, and
TomSwarr.
Daphne Immel and James
Glick earned honors for
horse and pony club
grooming and showmanship.
Judging teams who par
ticipated in Penn State 4-H
Achivement Days were also
honored. Senior livestock
members were Sarah

Sam Long, and Judy Zim
merman; junior livestock
members honored were
David Brubaker, Barbara
King chosen

Busily at work are 4-H’ers in the craft workshop,
who were designing plaques using cardboard,
string, foil, and shoe polish.

Achievement Day included
recreation, craft-making,
judging, demonstrations,
and movies for the 4-H
members, leaders, and
Mends that participated.
While the many Judges
examined the exhibits and
awarded the prizes, the 4-
H’ers were busy learning
new games and making
plaque crafts, judging
cucumbers, or practicing
their public speaking on
each other under the
direction of 4-H group
leaders, who were actually
older members of 4-H.
