AUG. 8-14, 1977
Ask the Old Fanner: Evidently the origi
nal settlers of Connecticut fancied the
word "bury" to tag onto the names they
chose for their towns, to wit Danbury,
Waterbury, and no doubt many others
My problem is what is a bury 7 FC, Hart
ford
The sufjix, as it is used in town names, is
merely a form of the word borough, and origi
nally meant "a fortified place "

The fed cattle trade was
forced downward on the
opening session under the
influence of a bearish, slow
moving carcass trade, and
only a small portion of the
early decline was regained
as marketings decreased on
later sessions. Most buying
interests were selective with
best demand for Choice 1050-
1300 lbs. steers and choice
heifers in reflection of the
$6.00-8.00 per hundredweight
1 between Good and Choice
carcasses. The overall finish
of the steer and heifer supply
was not particularly at
tractive with a large share of

grade and including a
moderate volume 950-1022
lbs. New crop steers and 750-
850 lbs. heifers. In addition,
marketings were poorly
distributed over the trading
period with more than 50 per
cent arriving on Monday.
Steers made up ap
proximately 45 per cent and
heifers 33 per cent. Cows
comprised 15 per cent and
feeders 5 per cent.
