Beekeepers

RED lION, Pa. -The York
County Beekeepers met June
B at the home of Quay
Minnich. Members were
given a tour of Minnlch’s
backyard apiary, after
which they offered an
educational talk to 4-H
beekeepers in attendance.
Dr. Clarence Collison,
entomologist from Penn
State, presented a slide show
on nectar and its sources.
Plans were finalized for
the summer picnic,
scheduled for July 10 at
Rocky Ridge Park, begin
ning at 12:00 p.m. Activities
will include a honey show to
be judged by Ralph Camber
of Lancaster, and a Honey
Foods Contest with Nedra
Baublitz judging. Com
petition will begin at 2:00
p.m.
The September 22 meeting
will be held at the 4-H
Center, near Bair. Guest
speaker will be Vernon
Watts, who accompanies his
slide program, “The
'Amazing Honey Bee,” with a
lively, humorous com
mentary. All interested
beekeepers are invited to
attend.
