Ag promotion taking shape
LANCASTER, Pa. - Last
Monday evening the Lan
caster County Farmers
Association met to formulate
plans for this year’s planned
Park City shopping mall
agricultural promotion.
During the evening, com
mittees were appointed and
several activities were
planned.
Heading up the crops and
soils committee is Donald
Hershey, Manheim; fruits
and vegetables Daniel
Rohrer, Manheim;
beekeepers, James Metzler;
sheep, Clyde Brubaker,
Lancaster; beef, William
Dean, Jr., Strasburg; swine.
Health tests offered
LANCASTER - The
monthly testing program,
sponsored by the Lancaster
County Lung Association,
will be conducted at the
Association office, 630 Janet
Avenue, Lancaster, on July
5.
Tuberculin testing will be
done from 10 a.m. to noon
and 1 to 5 p.m. Cost is $l.OO.
Persons having this test will
return for a report on
Thursday, July 7.'

Association, will be done
from 10 to noon and 1 to 4
p.m. Cost is $l.OO. A normal
meal -should be eaten two
hours before having the test.
The American Heart
Association will be checking
blood pressure from 10 a.m.
to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.
Free educational
materials are available
about all lung diseases as
well as smoking in the
Lancaster County Lung
Association office.

Peach program planned
MOORESTOWN, N. J. - A
Northeastern Peach
Marketing Conference will
be held at the Mallard Inn
here the evening of Monday,
July 11.
Information about peach
crop prospects for the
Northeastern United States
will be the main points of
discussion, but there will
also be reports about the
peach situation in other
parts of the nation, and in
formation concerning
competing fruits.
Designed to provide in
formation to producers,
handlers and buyers, the
conference is sponsored
jointly by the Cooperative
Extension Service at
Rutgers University, the New
Jersey Peach Promotion
Council and the National
Peach Council.
The meeting will open with
a social hour at 6 p.m.
following by a Dutch Treat
dinner at 7 p.ni. Presentation
of reports will begin about
7:30 p.m. Those who plan to
eat with the group are
requested to call Ray Battle,
(609) 881-1200 for a reser
vation to help planning for
the dinner. Battle is
Gloucester County
Agricultural Agent.
New Jersey Secretary of
Agriculture Phillip Alampi
will greet the group and
speak briefly at the opening
of the business session.
