sponsored by the Lancaster
Rotary Club. Everything is a
learning experience and this
was no exception. You see,
we always pick our berries
very ripe and deliver them to
homes within a few hours of
when they are picked. Our
customers always rave

about the sweetness of our
nice berries. However, we
learned at the Show that they
should have been more firm.
I suppose-, since they are
held several days or more in
stores, they must be picked
less ripe.
The boy who won first
prize had his box auctioned
off for $50.00. Cindy was glad
to get $lO a box for her
berries.
She says that she is tired of
strawberries but when I
make a big delicious
strawberry pie, she always
wants her share of it.
This year Allen bought a
no-till com planter and used
it to put in com after the first
cutting of hay was baled.
It is difficult for me to
accept the idea that he can
drive through the alfalfa
fields and plant, then spray
and raise a corn crop without
tilling the soil.
Guess, I’ll have to wait and
see it to believe it. It had

Saddle
Members of the Boots and
Saddles 4-H Club learned
how to properly wrap a
horses’s feet and legs for
shipping. Guest Speaker Sue
McCoy, Mount Joy,
demonstrated using an ace
bandage to give the legs
support while being worked.
She stressed that improper
wrapping for shipping can do
more harm than good.
Sandy Hamilton, Lam
peter, gave a demonstration
on the proper training of a
halter horse.
The dub will meet July 8
at the home of Chuck and
Sandy Sammons, Neffsville.
