112 —Lancaster Farming. Saturday, May 28. 1977 Ragweed pollen sampled HARRISBURG Bureau of Air Quality and Noise Control, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources, Thursday announced the findings of its 16th annual ragweed pollen sampling program which indicates, once again, that relief for hay fever sufferers can be found in the northcentral and northeastern areas of the Commonwealth. Based on data received from 33 volunteer stations across the Commonwealth, plus information received from five stations operated by the Philadelphia Department of Public Health and from a station in Allegheny County, relatively low indices were found in such northcentral and northeastern areas as; Coudersport, Kane, Franklin, Honesdale, White Haven, Wellsboro, East Stroudsburg. Even Philadelphia Central was included in this category. Relatively high indices were found in the western and southeastern areas of Pennsylvania. These ace areas having calculated pollen index of 10 or higher and are considered to be in need of ragweed control measures.
