4-H activities reported
FLEMINGTON, N.J. -
Following is a summary of 4-
H dub adtivies in Hunterdon
County, New Jersey:
ROUND VALLEY
RIDERS HORSE
Hie dob met at the home
of Mr. & Mrs. John Salasko,
leaders, with 15 members
and two visitors. Hie main
discussion of the meeting
was about the dubs up
coming Horse Show, which
will be held on June 5. Hie
show will consist of eight
English and eight Western
classes. Hie show will begin
at 8:30 ajn. at the Round
Valley Youth Center,
Lebanon. Any questions

Demonstrations were
given by Karen Salasko,
Braiding the Horse’s Mane;
Doris Kiceniuk, Hie Horse’s
Hoof. Hie next meeting will
be held at the home of Mr. &
Mrs. Salasko, reports Julie
Lewis, dub secretary.
BLACK RIVER HORSE
The club met at the'
Fairmount Community
Center, with 20 members and
Mr. k Mrs. Babb, leaders.
Reva Zeicbner gave a
demonstration to the club on
horse' judging. Hie club is
planning to have a bake sale
within the next month or so.
“The -clubs’ Fifth Annual
Open Western Horse Show
will beheld on Sunday, June
12,9 am. at Chubb Park, in
Chester. Their will be a total
of 24 classes and four divison
championships, also hi-point
of the day. For further in

EASY RIDERS HORSE
Hie dub met with 24
members, four visitors, and
three leaders. The club
discussed the second clinic
which was held April 16. It
went very well and 21 people
showed up. After the clinic,
Mrs. Griffith gave • a
demonstration on tack at the
Fox’s meadow. The dub did
a window _ display and
received a very good.
Demonstrations were given
by Donna Homulak, Penny
Peck, lisa Fulture, Lucy
Lybarger, and Anne Hilmer,
reports Heather Sewell,
secretary.
TRAIL BLAZERS
MOTORCYCLE
The dub met at the Round
Valley Youth Center with 20
members and two leaders.
There will be a canoe trip
held on June 26 with a
raindate of July 10 for all
club members. There will
also be a roller skating party
on June 1 at the Frencfatown

DOUGLAS ACCLAIMED
TOP 4-H DAIRY JUDGE
David Douglass, Pitt
stown, was high scorer in the
Hunterdon 4-H Dairy Cattle
Judging Contest held last
Saturday. David ac
cumulated 354 in
judging six classes of dairy
cows and in the scoring of
oral and written reasons.
David is a freshman at
Delaware Valley College and
a member of the Milford 4-H
Dairy Club.
The contest was held on
three farms: Cedar Lane
Farm and the farm of Ed
ward Clucas, both Oldwick,
and ‘William Teets’
Backacres Farm,
Cokesbury. Serving as of
ficial judge was William
Raab, Sussex County
Holstein breeder and noted
daity cattle judge. Raab had
been active in 4-H diary
activities and was a member
of the Cornell University
judging team some years
ago.
Second to David Douglass
in the contest was Jeff
Stamets, Stamets Rd.,
Milford. His day’s score
totaled 349 points. John
Baker, Rick Rd., Alexandria
Township, was third with 324
points, and Marianne Sch
wab, Ringoes-Heaville Rd.,
was a close fourth with 323
points.
The 3 highest scoring in
dividuals were all members
of the Milford - 4-H Dairy
Club, and hence, made up
the winning team in dub
competition.
High scoring Mt. Airy Club
contestants, in addition to
Marianne Schwab, were Bob
Fisher, Sergeantsville, with
318 points, and Debi
Coleman, Dilts Comer, 312
points.
Other high scorers in
Senior competition were
Donna and Mark Douglass,
319 and 307 points respec
tively.

team edged Milford, 817
points to 769.
High placing Senior judges
will participate in training
sessions and ultimate
selection for a place on the
Hunterdon County 4-H Dairy
Cattle Judging Team to
participate in the State
Contest scheduled for mid-
July.
