PSU posts livestock
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.
- Pewter mugs, plaques,
magazine subscriptions, and
wrist watches were among
the prizes awarded April 30
at the 60th Little In
ternational Livestock Ex
position at The Pennsylvania
State University. The show
was. sponsored by the Block
and Bridle Club with support
from the Department of
Dairy and Animal Science.
Alumni and others wanting
to promote student interest
in livestock donated the
prizes.
Many hours of work on his
Angus heifer paid off for
Gregory McKean of Mercer,
a sophomore in animal in
dustries. McKean captured
the title of grand champion
showman. He was also
selected champion beef
fitter, champion beef
showman, champion Angus
fitter, and champion Angus
showman.
The reserve grand
champion showman was
Gregory Snyder, .a senior in
animal industries from New
Tripoli. He won initial honors
with a Dorset ewe. Snyder
swept the sheep competition
by winning champion sheep
showman, champion sheep
fitter, champion Dorset
showman, reserve champion
Anugs showman, and
reserve champion Angus
fitter. Virginia “Ginger”
Stokes from Westtown won
the titles of reserve cham
pion beef fitter and cham
pion Crossbred fitter. Carl
McCullough of Mercer took
top honors in the Charolais
show as champion Charolais
showman and champion

Dorset fitter. Marilyn
“Mimi” Bathe from Pitt
sburgh won champion

prizes in the swine division

showman. Robert Wagner of
Pittsburgh performed

Yorkshire fitter. Michael
State from Homer City was
reserve champion Yorkshire
showman and Gary T. Oakes
of Jackson Center was
reserve champion Yorkshire
fitter.
