Closing prices on
Slaughter Steers were 75-
1.25 higher than the previous
midweek and heifers were
50-75 C higher. Cows were
steady to 50 C lower and bulls
steady. Fleshy two-way
feeder two-way feeder steers
were 50-1.00 higher.
Four day receipts 18,500 as
compared 16,100 previous
week and 17,300 a year ago.
The fed cattle trade was
characterized by a broad
demand the fore part of week
and the upward spiral
continued; at midweek,
however most buying in
terests were somewhat less
aggressive for numbers and
steer trading slowed as
prices weakened slightly.
Most interests came into the
week in need of cattle for
immediate requirements
and the advance in live
prices was supported by
sharply higher carcass
quotations on Tuesday.
Feeder buyers were fairly
aggressive for choice fleshy
two-way 950-1050 lb. steers
suitable for a short turn in
the feed-lot selling in a 39.00-
40.00 range. Steers made up
approximately 46 and
heifers 32, cows comprised
12 and feeders 8.

Receipts about 70 pet
slaughter steers, 25 pet
slaughter heifers and the
balance mainly cows. Choice
steers weighing 1100-1250 lbs
in most demand.
