EH introduces fast parts programs
Farmers can get parts faster
from their International
Harvester dealers who are
participating in special
programs linking them to
IH’s parts distribution
centers, according to IH.
The first program is called
Stand By 7 and provides
emergency parts and ser
vice to farmers on
weekends.
The second enables
dealers to locate and order a
part directly using their own
computer terminal.
Stand By 7 calls for the

back on IH’s network of 11

West Chicago P.D.C. in
Illinois. Should the part be
unavailable, IH says, the
p.d.c. will locate it at one of
IH’s other distribution
centers.
In the unlikely event the
part is still not in inventory,
IH will obtain it from the ap
propriate manufacturing
plant or supplier.
Once secured, the part will
be shipped to the dealer the
fastest means possible. If
necessary, it will be hand
carried on board an airplane
and flown to the airport
nearest the dealer.

“With Stand By 7, a far
mer could be operating the -

can be shipped immediately
to the dealer,” IH says. In
any event, the fact that IH’s
resources are available on
weekends assures the far
mer* prompt service aimed
at getting him back into the
fields quickly, IH asserts.
Normally, IH support
operations are closed on
weekends.
In addition, the program
calls for participating
dealers td make
arrangements to provide
emergency service to
customers.
IH’s Stand By 7 Program
is short for “standing by the
customer seven days a
year as well as writing long
term farm legislation.
“We hope one result of this
effort will be to raise the
consciousness of members of
Congress to the immediate
needs in our farming areas.
In addition, this experience
will help the Farmers Union
raise the awareness of their
neighbors to the need for
action back home,” said
Reuben Johnson, director of
Legislative Services for-
National Farmers Union.
During the session,
members were briefed on
the farm proposals currently
before Congress and Far
mers Union attempts to have
a 90 per cent of parity
emergency loan bill enacted
in time to affect 1977 crop
production.
