Her wallpaper also carries out the color scheme. A handy little room that she especially utilizes in her laundry which is also a sewing room. “I like this part of the house because I can sew, wash, mend, iron, and do my ceramics all in one,” she explains. The room contains a washer, dryer, hamper, medicine chest, built-in sewing machine, and ironing board. There is also quite a bit of storage space. ‘T don’t sew as much as my daughters do, but I really put this room to good use,” she says. The Bolls have three daughters - Cynthia, 17; Sandra, 15; and Londa, 12. Although she admits to being a busy farm wife, she does enjoy doing ceramics and has ■ created several attractive additions for her home. One particularly striking lamp she has fashioned sits in the foyer leading to the living room. Glazed in mother-of-pearl, the egg shaped globe is filled with flowers and 9 bird. One characteristic of the 801 l home is its large win dows and doors to let in plenty of light The living room, especially, has this feature. Knowing that she wanted as large a window as possible for this room, Mrs. 801 l chose a 12 foot wide picture window with a bottom section that opens outward. “I wanted something bigger,” she notes, “but this was the biggest they had.” This window in itself was too large for the carpenter’s taste because he said she would ruin her furniture from all the light it would let in. Decorating the windows are drapes in a burnt orange and brown print. The fabric is pure linen. A second distinguishing characteristic of the living room are the murals on the light green wall. Although part of the wallpaper, they appear to have been painted directly onto the plaster. Another section of interest in the 801 l home is Mr. Boll’s office. Done in offwhite and black striped wallpaper, the decor keeps with the rustic effect in die other areas of the home through the use of mushroom board paneling. The accent color is, again, reddish orange. The Bolls began tbeir redecorating in 1969, and in 1973 added a section to their home. From aerial view photos taken of the home prior to the most recent remodeling, the looks of the farmhouse have changed drastically. “Redecorating is something we always thought we’d like to do if we could," Mrs. 801 l explains, “and, with the prices going up the way they are, we thought we’d better do it now rather than later.” “This is our home for the rest of our lives,” says Mrs. 8011, “so, we can enjoy it now as well as when we’re older.” Visitors to the home on the Heritage Tour will be able to share with the Bolls their enjoyment of the house.
