SCHAEFFERSTOWN, Pa. - Presenting of trophies to deserving members was the main order of business at the Lebanon County 4-H Livestock Club’s annual banquet held last month at the Schaefferstown Fire Hall, here. During the evening, awards were handed out to many young beef, swine, and sheep raisers from around the county. Heading the list of beef award recipients was Jay Bomgardner, Annvllle R 7, for showing the grand champion steer at Lebanon Co.’s 4-H roundup. Bomgardner’s trophy was, sponsored by Keller Bros. , Buffalo Springs. Other beef award winners were: Bonnie Arnold, Lebanon Rl, who showed the reserve champion steer at roundup, and Jeff Heisey, who earned the champion showman as well as champion fitter honors at the same show. Thomas Arnold, Lebanon Rl, owned the champion buddy steer at the roundup and for this reason received a trophy from Evergreen Tractor Company, Lebanon. Honors were also bestowed to owners of steers going to Farm Show. Scott Eckenrode, Rezmont; Jeff Heisey, and Thomas Arnold all received trophies for their animals. Edris’ Garage, Lebanon R 5, sponsored Eckenrode’s gift; DeKalb Seed Corn Company, Lebanon Rl, backed Heisey’s; and Tom Morrissey, Reistville, was benefactor of Arnold’s. Champion buyer’s trophy for beef went to the Lebanon Valley National Bank of Lebanon. This award was sponsored by Agway Inc., of Lebanon. Swine honors were divided into three different categories. Awards were livestock club honors its own given for Lebanon Fair hog winners, 4-H roundup win ners, and Farm Show animals. In August of last year Todd Brajkovich, took grand championship honors at the Lebanon Fair with his hog, and Bonnie Arnold took the reserve champion of the show. She also was the champion fitter. Her brother, Tommy Arnold, was the champion showman. For these accomplishments, each received a trophy. Champion buyer’s trophy for that show went to Hat field Packing Co. Hatfield, Pa. This trophy was spon sored by Harry Bachman, auctioneer, Annville. Jay Bomgardner received an award from Lil Dutch Acres, Grantville, and Bonnie Arnold received a trophy from Hauck Manufacturing Company, Cleona. Champion buyer for that show was Hatfield Packing Company, and their plaque was sponsored by Bomgardner’s Hampshires, Annville.
