Despite moderate marketings and a reduced daily rate of slaughter, fed cattle prices again came under considerable pressure. Prices were forced sharply downward on the opening session, much of the early downturn was recovered later with demand improved to some extent by storm conditions which rolled across the trade territory. Several midwest packers were out of operation because of labor difficulties and some others reduced slaughter quotas in reflection of poor cut-out results. There was strong seller resistence to the continued price decline in fed cattle prices and marketings were sharply curtailed after Monday.
