group doing the entertaining
and for roll call each told
how long they had been a
member m the Society.
During the business
meeting, the group voted to
contribute $lO to Cerebral
Palsey and the same amount
to Easter Seals. Mrs. Martin
Swarr, Landisville, read her
essay entitled, “How a Farm
Woman Ticks in 76.”
Doris Thomas, home
economist, gave the group
timely tips and ideas for
salads. She prepared several
as she spoke. These were
later served as refresh
ments.
Next month the group will
attend the Hershey Com
munity Theater to see
“Oklahoma.” Husbands will
be guests.

February 18 with their
husbands to celebrate the
anniversary of the Society.

Thirty-six people met at
the Host Corral for dinner
and a show, which was a
mystery entitled, “Catch Me
If You Can.”
On March 12 the group will
be entertained by Society 7.
The next meeting will be
held on March 24 at the home
of Edna Garber, Marietta.

Society 27
The Lancaster County
Farm Women Society 27 met
at Lehman’s Rest Home,
Rheems, for their February
meeting. Refreshments were
served to guests and
members. The program for
the guests consisted of
devotions by Lucy Frey;
music selections by Mark,
Melanie, and Marcy Miller;
a skit by Cindy Brubaker and
Jodi Brubaker; and games
led by Mrs. Fran Sauder.
The program concluded with
group singing.
During the business
meeting, it was decided to
send a love gift of $35 to
Linda Kauffman, who is in
England for two months of
service.
The group’s next meeting
will be on March 25. Ven
triloquist Steve Brubaker
will provide the program.

The February meeting of
Farm Women Society 28 was
held February 24 at the home
of Mrs. Richard Herr, Ronks
Rl. Mrs. Lloyd Denlinger
served as co-hostess.
Mrs. William Dean,
chairman of the Ways and
Means Committee, an
nounced plans for a food
stand at the farm machinery
sale of J. Robert Hess,
Strasburg Rl, on March 3
and at the county plowing
contest in July at the Ken
neth Kreider farm,
Strasburg Rl.
Mrs. William Harnish,
president, was in charge of
the business meeting. She
announced that the county
convention will be held in
November at the Farm and
Home Center.
The speaker for the af
ternoon was Mrs. Michael
Velevans who spoke and
showed slides on “Village
Life and Customs in
Greece.”
The next meeting of the
Society will be a progressive
supper on March 26 with the
husbands as guests. The
group will meet at Zim
mermans’s Hardware store
in Strasburg at 6:30 p.m.
York Co,
Society 7
York Co. Farm Women
Group 7 made 385 bed pads
that were donated to
Pleasant Acres.
And $lO donations were
approved for the Heart
Fund, March of Dimes, and
York-Adams Lung
Association. A $25 donation
was earmarked for the Four
Diamonds Fund at Hershey
Medical Center for a York
County child.
The March meeting will
focus on St. Patrick’s Day.
The meeting is scheduled for
7 p.m. March 8 at the East
Manchester Township
Building.

Society 20
York County Society of
Farm Women, Group 20, will
meet on March Bat 1:00 p.m.
at the home of Mrs. Clair
Shaffer, S. Main St.,
Shrewsbury.
Rosalie Winter will serve
as program chairman; and
the meeting will be a safety
theme.
